About John Walsh
Science of Selling!
Growing up I knew I was going to be a peddler. Sure we all did the lemonade stand. But when I turned the laborious childhood chore of raking leaves into making money I knew my calling. Ziggy paid me $.25 for every bag of leaves he filled and moved to his yard so he jumped and froliced on the cool autumn day in St. Louis. Ding! My first sale.
Go Cardinals! Even though we moved from St. Louis when I was 14 I still call it home. Other homes along the way include Topeka, Kansas; Ames, Iowa; Lawrence, Kansas; Rolla, Missouri; Chicago, Illinois; and finally Palm Coast in August of 1990. Palm Coast is paradise. We love living in paradise.
My path to a professional career in sales continued in high school working part time at Tuttle Gas and Appliance in Ames, Iowa. Saturdays the boss attended the Iowa State football games and left me to attend to his customers. My first raise came the first Saturday I covered the floor. A lawn mower, gas stove and Amanda Radar Range …a good day in sales!
Growing up I had a passion for cars. The local Chevy dealer was adjacent to Our Lady of Fatima, my elementary penitentiary – I mean school. I would visit the showroom often to keep up on the latest models. I knew someday I’d be selling cars. That started on July 17, 1980 at George Walsh Chevrolet in Rolla, Missouri. It was in these early car days I discovered selling was a science. I learned to be successful you need to have passion, knowledge, opportunity, skill and dedication. I learned this from Bill Willingham, Author of Integrity Selling in the 21st Century.
I look forward to sharing what I learned from the book and over 30 years of professional selling. It is my hope that others will benefit from my experience and share their own experiences in the Science of Selling!
